燦基電單車行由連家本先生於一九六一年創立，第一間門市位於旺角通菜街，以經營買賣及維修電單車為主。

Chun Kee Motorcycle Co. was established by Mr. LIN Ka Boon in 1961 at Tung Choi Street, Mongkok, which was a small shop selling and repairing motorcycles for individual users.

通菜街門市遷至太平道，並發展分銷及代理電單車的業務。其亦擴充各類業務，包括售賣意大利的 LAMBRETTA 綿羊機車、代售保險及保養維修車隊等，主要客戶包括通隆冷氣維修公司。

Chun Kee has moved to Peace Avenue. It also became dealer and sub-dealer of motorcycles. It expanded various kinds of business, including selling Italian Scooter of LAMBRETTA, being insurance agent and offering services to motorcycle teams, etc. Main clients include Turning Air-conditioner Repairing Company.

燦基開始經營教授駕駛技術，並出租車輛予初學者作考取車牌之用。由於經營宗旨是以出色的教授技巧，提供保養得宜的電單車，所以合格率極高而成為當時獨當一面的私人駕駛學院。

Chun Kee started to organize courses of motorcycle driving. It also provided motorcycles for rental for driving examinations. As its corporate mission was to provide motorcycles in good conditions with excellent teaching skills, the passing rate of driving examinations was very high. Chun Kee then became the top private school of motorcycle.

香港正急速發展，大量初學者急需考取車牌，令電單車需求劇增。燦基藉此機會再次擴充業務，購入50台全新電單車以滿足市場，並以專業教授駕駛技術為口號，令燦基電單車行的業務邁向第一個高峰。

Hong Kong has been growing rapidly. Many motorcycle learners were eager to obtain driving license. Thus, the demand for motorcycle increased sharply. Chun Kee took this opportunity to expand its business. 

It purchased 50 units of brand new motorcycles to meet the demand of the market. It also emphasized teaching of professional motorcycle driving skills, which boosted up its business to a peak.
