BALI (Indonesia), 27th August 2013 – Ducati
officially launched its new Hyperstrada during an exclusive
three-day launch event for Asia-Pacific media in Nusa Dua,
Bali. Forty media from 12 countries around the Asia-Pacific
region attended the launch, experiencing the latest creation
from Ducati.
Together with the media, delegations of 30 Ducati Importers
and 10 Ducati Owners Club Presidents from all over Asia had
the chance to take part to the event in the astonishing
location of Bali. The new Hyperstrada is a stylish mid-range
tourer with everyday practicality that broadens its
character of the new generation of Hypermotard. It
represents a completely new dimension and is the innovative
realization of a unique “cross-over” between the worlds of
fun, typical of the Motard models, and the versatility and
comfort which characterized Touring motorcycles.
The presence of Ducati’s top management from global
headquarters and Asia-Pacific underlined the focus that
Ducati has for the Asian markets with sales in the region
growing strongly. “The launch of the new Hyperstrada in
Asia comes at a very exciting time for Ducati in the
Asia-Pacific region,” said Cristiano Silei, Vice President
of Global Sales. “Demand from the Asian markets for our
motorcycles has been very strong and we expect it to
continue. We will continue to introduce our latest
motorcycles to our Asian customers and with enhancements
that suit their needs”.
The new Hyperstrada is brand new from the ground up and
introduces the new Ducati 821cc Testastretta 11° engine in a
new Trellis frame equipped with top-of-the-range chassis
components. The engine produces 110hp and a ride-enhancing
65.8lb-ft of torque for a performance that underlines its
pure Ducati sport character.
During the second day of the launch, media had the chance to
test the performance and agility of the new Hyperstrada with
a 200 kilometers test ride along a special route that took
in some of the most breathtaking landscape of Bali, riding
from Nusa Dua to Kintamani Volcano and the historical Ubud,
along the unique rice fields.
“I am really proud to launch the new Hyperstrada in Bali. It
is an incredibly versatile motorcycle and opens an exciting
new road to explore and releases the full potential of the
thrilling Hypermotard family,” said Pierfrancesco Scalzo,
Regional Asia Commercial Director. “Its reduced seat height
and lightweight fits the needs of Asian riders perfectly and
gives them the advantage of being comfortable and agile
which is particularly important for the cities of Asia.”
The new Hyperstrada is ideal for the everyday urban commute
or mid distance journey. Its narrow waistline and commanding
riding position gives the rider a confidence-inspiring
stance.
The new Hyperstrada also comes in the “low-version” to
better suit the Asian customers’ needs.
This version has shorter front and rear suspensions,
providing a low seat height of 810 mm (31.9in) This
considerably enhances sure-footed confidence, especially in
urban environments.
Agility is further enhanced by its lightweight with the full
touring trim tipping the scale with a dry-weight of 181kg
and rides on the Multistrada’s Pirelli Scorpion Trail Tires,
mounted on 10-spoke, 1199 Panigale-style cast aluminium
wheels.
The Hyperstrada also comes with a full touring-oriented
specification from the factory and successfully combines
performance with excellent ergonomics and the Ducati Safety
Pack of latest generation ABS, Ducati Traction Control (DTC)
and Integrated Riding Modes.
Ducati’s industry changing Riding Modes offer optimized
settings appropriate to rider and environment be selecting
from a choice of three preset modes – Sport, Touring and
Urban. Each riding mode is preprogrammed to instantly change
the engine character, ABS and DTC intervention – with the
simple click of a button even while riding.
The new Hyperstrada takes the Hypermotard concept into the
future with refined design and user-friendly technologies
that will enhance its appeal to a wider range of riders.
With the new Hyperstrada, Ducati expands the concept of
touring with a motorcycle which is able to deliver the
“thrilling” riding style of the Hyper family, while
delivering pure Ducati sport bike excitement.
A special thank goes to our Sponsor and Ducati Technical
