A great success despite unpredictable weathers
With the great turnout of the 2011 1st Chengdu
Racing Festival at April, 2011, The 2nd Chengdu
racing Festival was held on 30-31 of July and promised to be
the best racing Festival in China’s South Western region as
there were more racing, more entries and more racing queens.
BG-Motorsport, being the organizer and promoter of the 2011
Chengdu Racing Festivals’ SBK races, has been working hard
since the last race making this 2nd race a bigger
success then the last one.
Coming up to the race weekend, the weather in Chengdu has
been horrendous with heavy rain and thunder storms that has
puts many people off in participating in the races but still
a good number of teams and riders entered the race with BG
Racing fielding the strongest line up with our Canadian
Rider Dan, Spaniard Alan and Frenchman Stephane.
Dan won the last Chengdu SBK race with no challenges as Dan
has been racing with more and more confidence under the BG
Team. And Alan won the last round of the Shanghai Tianma
Racing Festival in Feb also riding under the BG Banner.
The BG team arrived Tue to Chengdu and was faced with
torrential rain and strong winds, the rain lasted till
Friday night while everyone was thinking that the race
weekend will be ruined as the Track has multiple flooding
that makes racing impossible, But, as if God has heard
everyone’s pleading, Sat morning, the rain has stopped,
although the sky was still over casted, but the track was
drying up, and with the huge human effort, the standing Pool
of water were being swept off by many track workers and the
management staffs, then the Cities’ fire trucks help to
clean off the debris from the track.
Sat untime practice see BG’s Dan and Alan taking a
demanding lead times with Macau Rider Su and Chengdu rider
Huang following a not too close behind, but the most
impressive were the local riders who’d raced in the last
event and all can see their big improvement this time.
Sunday morning again was overcasted but dry and the
Qualifying goes to Dan, Alan, Su and Huang, Stephane has
some electronic glitch on his newly re-built RSV-4 factory
race bike, so he has to settle for 5th.
While everyone was expecting a Dry race, but light drizzle
started to fall 2 hours before the SBK race, and the track
became too slippery for slick or Dot race road tyres. Upon
the meeting with the officials, it is decided that the SBK
race will be postponed in order to give time for the teams
to change to rain tyres. The Formula China and Super Car
race was moved up instead.
The SBK race started at 4:45 pm and under the cheering of
all the spectators staying behind just to watch this race.
Dan, Su and Alan took off immediately after the race started
and while Dan has to fought off Su for the beginning few
laps until he decided its enough and took off leaving Su has
to battle with Alan for the 2nd place in the
race. Dan kept a waiting game and overtook Su at the last
lap giving no chance for a match to the finishing line.
With rain tyres supplied by Michelin, all the riders
finished the race in great form and everyone had a great
time.
BG’s Stunt Pro Sammo again did his usual great work by
entertaining the crowds during the race weekend giving the
event a much needed entertainment.
With the extremely fast economic growth of China’s inland
provinces especially with Chengdu as the capital of Sichuan
province, Motorsports has been growing extremely fast in the
last couple of years.
At the Touring Car events, over 40 cars entered the race so
this has to be divided into 2 separate class events, then
there is the Formula China race and the most impressive is
the Super Car races with Teams coming from as far as
Kunming, Yunnan province.
Cars such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Porsche,
Maserati, Mercedes, Nissan’s GTR were all there dicing with
each other on the track.
All these has given the organizers, promoters great
expectations as everyone can see the great potential of
these China inland provinces as with the special support
from the central Government in developing these inland
regions in the past years, these regions has come up to be
extremely wealthy and important.
We’d like to thank the Chengdu circuit for providing us this
great platform to operate this SBK events, and we’ll be
expecting a record turn out at the next Autumn racing
Festival at end Oct.

Dan,
Stephane
.
Dan,
Alan,
Dan,

Arlen
Ness/Berik
Arlen
